Resources for K-12 Smoothie Success

General Mills Foodservice Helps Schools Achieve Smoothie Success: New “Made for Participation Smoothies” brochure features recipes specifically tailored to K-12 school foodservice.

General Mills Foodservice introduces a new brochure, “Made for Participation Smoothies” to help K-12 schools offer flavorful smoothies that work for breakfast, lunch or a la carte along with tips for smoothie success even if schools don’t have access to a blender.

Featuring more than a dozen recipes that are sure to please kids—from Curious Monkey to Wicked Green to Berry Bunny and Lava Flow smoothies—the brochure includes a variety of smoothie solutions in the following categories:

  • Fruit and yogurt
  • Vegetable, fruit and yogurt
  • Blender-less

According to Technomic MenuMonitor, the number of restaurants featuring smoothies on kid menus grew by 13 percent1 in the past two years. In addition, with the recent updates from the USDA allowing yogurt, fruit and vegetables to be credited in smoothies across all meal programs, more schools are looking to add smoothies to their menus. General Mills Foodservice is helping K-12 schools to leverage the smoothie trend and boost participation with new ideas for smoothie recipes as well as tools and tricks that work in a K-12 environment.

K-12 foodservice professionals can view or download the brochure from General Mills Foodservice at www.generalmillscf.com. For more information, they can also contact their local sales representative or call 1.800.243.5687.
