Pork's Promising Popularity

Pork has been the fastest growing protein in foodservice for the past two years.1 Which should come as no surprise, since pork’s versatility lends itself to many popular applications, from bacon to carnitas to classic pork loin, from breakfast to take-out to main course. Pork is also the perfect center-of-plate protein for on-trend Asian, Hispanic and regional flavors.

Working side-by-side with chefs from around the world, Knorr® captured the essence of distinctive global cuisines and created an easy way to add ethnic flair to dishes or make signature items.

These two recipes showcase the possibilities for flavor versatility:

Mango Habanero Chopped Pork BBQ Sandwich Ingredients

  • 3 oz. boneless pork shoulder, cooked and shredded
  • 2 oz. Knorr® Ready-To-Use Mango Habanero Sauce
  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • 1 oz. onions, small dice
  • 1 oz. bell pepper, small dice
  • 1 tsp. cilantro, chopped
  • 1 Kaiser roll


  1. Sauté onions and peppers in oil until onions are translucent.
  2. Add the pulled pork and Knorr® Ready-To-Use Mango Habanero Sauce and simmer.
  3. Remove from heat, allow to cool slightly, then add chopped cilantro and blend.
  4. Place 4 oz. of pork mix on a Kaiser roll and serve.

Spicy Sweet & Sour Pork

  • 2½ lb. pork butt, diced
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1½ tsp. salt
  • 1 cup water, beer, or stock
  • 1 oz. oil, and as needed for deep-frying
  • 1 lb. each red bell pepper, large dice; green bell pepper, large dice; carrots, sliced; pineapple, canned chunks
  • ¼ cup cider vinegar
  • 24 fl. oz. Knorr® Ready-To-Use Sweet Red Chili Sauce
  • 2 tbsp. soy sauce


  1. Combine flour, cornstarch and salt, making a well in the center.
  2. Add beaten eggs and liquid. Mix to form batter. Let rest for 15 minutes.
  3. Dip pork in batter and deep fry to a golden brown. Set aside.
  4. Sauté peppers and carrots in 1 oz. hot oil for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add pineapple, vinegar, soy sauce and Knorr® Ready-To-Use Sweet Red Chili Sauce. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Add pork and serve.
