Summer Sandwiches that Sizzle

With summertime in full swing, there’s an opportunity for operators to revisit and refresh classic summer flavors. Right now, guests are looking to the grill to satisfy cravings for bolder flavors—and more are looking beyond their own backyards.

An easy way for operators to infuse on-trend summer flavors is on the sandwich menu. Southwest Turkey Barbecue Sliders

Ingredients (8 portions)

  • 8 oz. Turkey, ground
  • 2 oz. Green bell pepper, sautéed
  • 5 Tbsp. Chili powder
  • 1½ oz. Knorr® Chipotle BBQ Sauce
  • 1 tsp. Salt, fresh ground
  • 5 tsp. Black pepper, fresh ground
  • 2 Jalapeno jack cheese slices, quartered
  • 4 Hamburger buns, mini
  • 2 tsp. Hellmann’s® Real Mayonnaise
  • 1 oz. Jalapeño chiles, pickled


  • In a large bowl, gently combine turkey, bell pepper, chili powder and 1/3 of the Knorr® Chipotle Barbecue Sauce until blended. Season with salt and pepper. Shape mixture into 1 oz. patties.
  • Grill or sauté patties until browned on both sides and internal temperature reaches 135° F.
  • When patties have nearly cooked through, top each with a quarter slice of cheese. Cover or place under salamander until cheese melts.
  • Spread cut sides of each bun evenly with 2 tsp. Hellmann's® Real Mayonnaise. Grill until lightly browned. Spread ½ tsp. barbecue sauce on cut side of each bun bottom; top with turkey patty. Top patty with pickled jalapeño slice, if using.
  • Replace tops of buns; serve immediately with additional barbecue sauce for dipping.
